KeepInTouch ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the KeepInTouch mobile application ("App").

By using KeepInTouch, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

2.1 Contact Information You Provide

When you use KeepInTouch, you voluntarily provide the following information about your contacts:

  • Contact names
  • Phone numbers
  • Email addresses
  • WhatsApp numbers
  • LinkedIn profile information
  • Other contact methods you choose to add
  • Notes about where you met contacts
  • Personal notes, hobbies, special dates, and other custom information
  • Interaction history (dates and notes about calls, messages, and meetings)

2.2 Photos and Images

  • Profile photos you upload for your contacts
  • These images are stored securely in Firebase Storage

2.3 Usage Data

  • Connection streaks and statistics
  • Reminder preferences and schedules
  • Snooze settings
  • App settings and preferences

2.4 Device and Authentication Data

  • Anonymous user identifier (Firebase Anonymous Authentication)
  • Push notification tokens (for sending reminders)
  • We do NOT collect your email, password, or any account credentials

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your data solely for the following purposes:

3.1 Core App Functionality

  • Managing your contact list
  • Scheduling and sending reminder notifications
  • Tracking your interaction history with contacts
  • Calculating connection streaks
  • Storing and displaying contact photos
  • Synchronizing your data across your devices

3.2 App Improvement

  • We do NOT use your data for analytics, advertising, or marketing
  • We do NOT track your behavior or usage patterns
  • We do NOT create user profiles for any purpose other than app functionality

4. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY

4.1 Where Your Data is Stored

  • All data is stored using Firebase services (Google Cloud Platform)
  • Contact information and notes: Firebase Firestore (cloud database)
  • Profile photos: Firebase Storage
  • User authentication: Firebase Anonymous Authentication

4.2 Data Security

  • All data transmission is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
  • Your data is isolated to your anonymous user account
  • Firebase infrastructure provides enterprise-grade security
  • We implement security best practices including authentication, access controls, and secure storage

4.3 Data Retention

  • Your data is retained as long as you use the App
  • You can delete individual contacts or all data at any time through the App
  • Uninstalling the App will prevent access to your data, but it will remain in Firebase unless explicitly deleted

5. DATA SHARING AND THIRD PARTIES

5.1 We Do NOT Sell Your Data

We will NEVER sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties

5.2 Third-Party Services

We use the following trusted third-party services to operate the App:

  • Firebase (Google): For authentication, database, and storage
  • Expo: For app development framework and push notifications

5.3 No Advertising or Analytics

  • We do NOT use advertising networks
  • We do NOT use analytics or tracking services
  • We do NOT share your data with data brokers or marketing companies

5.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information only if required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, court order, or legal process.

6. YOUR DATA RIGHTS

You have the following rights regarding your data:

6.1 Access and Control

  • You can view, edit, or delete any contact information at any time
  • You can delete contact photos through the App
  • You can reset your data through Settings > Developer Options

6.2 Data Deletion

  • Delete individual contacts: Swipe or use delete button in the App
  • Delete all data: Use "Reset Onboarding & Data" in Developer Options
  • Uninstall the App to stop all data collection

6.3 Data Portability

  • Your data is stored in a standard format
  • Currently, we do not offer an automated export feature

7. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Your data may be transferred to and stored on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States, where Firebase infrastructure is located. By using KeepInTouch, you consent to the transfer of your data to these locations.

8. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

  • Posting the new Privacy Policy in the App
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.

By using KeepInTouch, you consent to:

  • The collection and use of your data as described in this policy
  • The storage of your data using Firebase services
  • The transfer of your data to Firebase infrastructure

10. PERMISSIONS REQUESTED

KeepInTouch requests the following device permissions:

10.1 Notifications

  • Used to: Send you reminders when it's time to connect with your contacts
  • Optional: You can disable notifications in device settings

10.2 Camera and Photo Library

  • Used to: Upload profile photos for your contacts
  • Optional: You can choose not to add photos

10.3 No Other Permissions

  • We do NOT access your device contacts
  • We do NOT access your location
  • We do NOT access your microphone (except when using camera)
  • We do NOT access your calendar

11. DATA BREACH NOTIFICATION

In the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected users within 72 hours and take immediate steps to secure the data.
